Having spent almost two decades reviewing and editing resumes and LinkedIn profiles, there are a couple of things I can say with absolute certainty:

  • Recruiters spend hours on LinkedIn every day. It’s the main tool they use to find and connect with candidates.
  • There are other tools out there, but none comes even close to LinkedIn — at least not for Recruiters and Hiring Managers!
  • LinkedIn Recruiter, a different and very expensive version of LinkedIn, is the most coveted and useful tool Recruiters need and use. It allows them to search the entire database, whether the Recruiter is directly connected to the individual or not.
  • Your LinkedIn profile is not your resume (more on that later!)
