Don’t Fall for the New “Quiet Thriving” at Work Trend!
If you’re thriving at work, you shouldn’t be quiet about it.
If you’ve been online these past few days, you’ve probably heard of “quiet thriving,” and while I understand the appeal, this is the one “quiet” trend I just can’t get behind.
Quiet Thriving, as many professionals are putting it, means taking little steps to help you be more engaged at work. Those little steps might look different for everyone, but it’s just about doing a little something more, every day.
And sure, that might work for some peeps, especially if you’re feeling burnt-out and trying to “get back to it”!
I generally agree with the overall sentiment. After all, those everyday little steps are how new habits are formed… but do you know who doesn’t benefit from this new trend?
People from historically excluded communities!
As y’all know, I’m Latina. I’m also an immigrant.
I was raised and socialized to believe that “calladita te ves mas bonita” (something like “you look prettier when you keep your mouth shut”)
You can all imagine the impact that has on an ambitious young woman.
