Guard Your Data: The Rise of Job Scammers in the New Year and How to Stay Safe
Scammers are getting craftier and bolder as Job Seekers — and companies — resume their Interview Processes. Here’s how to identify them so you don’t fall for their traps.
It’s only January 2nd, and I’m already being bombarded with fake jobs, scam job alerts, and fraudulent job opportunities. And the funny thing is, this happens every January, without fail!
With the new year in full swing, scammers know that many Job Seekers will be looking for a new role, resuming their job search, or simply entertaining new interviews or opportunities.
Scammers are also very much aware that companies also resume their hiring processes right after the Holiday Season… so they take advantage of the situation and will try to trick you into their fake job offers so they can steal your personal and banking information.
Scammers also know that this is an extremely harsh employment market. As such, Candidates are more prone to make mistakes, take on opportunities that “sound too good to be true,” and ignore some of the red flags they wouldn’t disregard otherwise.
