Hi! Someone else asked a very similar question, I hope you don't mind me copying and pasting the same response here (I've been feeling under the weather and my brain feels like mashed potatoes!)

I might need to write a separate post about referral programs :)

"Honestly, it really depends on the company.

Some companies have very strict referral programs, meaning that they'll ask the "referrer" how they know the person they're referring. Some other companies are a little bit more flexible with their programs.

I can't say whether they are better or worse because every company has different processes, systems and KPIs for their Recruiters BUT, many companies have a "review all referral resumes within the first 72 hours" type of policy. Other companies don't have any KPIs around referrals and would treat these resumes as any other application."
