How to Hire More “Diverse Talent” for Your Team

This is probably the number 1 question I get. And people usually don’t like my answer! The truth is that hiring is “easy.”

… Well, not exactly easy — lots of work, effort, dedication, budget, and intentionality go into recruiting — but the talent is certainly out there.
And they’re very much interested in hiring hired! So… what’s the problem, then?

You might be surprised to hear that, when building diverse teams, hiring diverse talent should not be your first and only priority.

WAIT. WHAT?

If your goal is to build diverse teams, you must focus on creating INCLUSIVE and EQUITABLE workplaces first and along the way. That means that you’ll need to review, deconstruct, and analyze all the systems, processes, and policies you have in place to make sure that:

  • The Diverse Talent you’re trying to hire will have a positive, inclusive, and equitable experience throughout the interview process.
  • The Diverse Talent you’re trying to hire will receive an equitable offer.
  • The benefits you offer are fully inclusive.
  • Your Managers are trained to manage, coach, grow, nurture, develop, and promote…
