Human Resources Is Painfully Unprepared to Protect Women, It’s Frightening

With so many companies (but not enough, really) doing what they can to support and amplify their reproductive health benefits. I can’t stop thinking that HR Teams might be unprepared to handle those requests and conversations.

For starters, and being super honest here, employees don’t really trust HR. They normally avoid reaching out to their Talent Partners for any other issues.

… so I can’t help to wonder, what processes and systems are being put in place to build trust between those that need reproductive help assistance and their HR Teams and Managers.

Because in an ideal world, you shouldn’t have to talk to your Manager and HR Team about your reproductive health and needs. (Don’t believe me? Ask any pregnant person that had to disclose and saw their career hindered as a result)

Also, having partnered with HR Teams for almost 2 decades, I also wonder… will they need a “paper trail” of requests and approvals, as they usually do? Or will they trust their employees’ needs and act accordingly?
