The Recruitment landscape has been changing in the last few years, but it’s still going to take a while to undo the many un-inclusive practices that are built into recruitment practices.

And sure, individual Recruiters could be very inclusive and bias-aware on their own, but the systems they operate under are still designed to benefit the privileged majority:

  • Sourcing candidates and posting jobs only where you can get more traffic? Un-inclusive
  • Writing job descriptions that would only make sense for someone that’s already been in that role and industry for years? Un-inclusive.
  • Hiring based on cultural fit? Un-inclusive
  • Referral programs? Un-inclusive
  • Behavioral questions that only focus on past experience? Un-Inclusive
  • Scheduling interviews based only on your preference and availability? Un-Inclusive
  • Writing unstructured interview feedback…
