There Are 800 Billion Reasons for CEOs to Cancel WFH. “Company Culture” Is None of Them
McKinsey Just launched a new study revealing that remote work is set to wipe out $800 Billion from office values.
The last three years were quite interesting when it comes to the way we approach work. We went from “remote and hybrid work environments are the future of work” to “WFH is killing the company culture” in the blink of an eye.
Like me, many other DEI and Talent Professionals noticed this interesting — but predictable shift — and started to raise the alarm… about two years ago.
We predicted that companies, most specifically CEOs, would want to go back to their old ways as soon as the lockdown was over. Pandemic and DEI initiatives be damned. And we weren’t wrong.
We started flagging how going to pre-pandemic work environments would harm the talent we worked so hard to attract, hire, and retain: Talent of Color, Women, Caretakers, Talent with Disabilities, Talent who can’t afford to live close to an office, etc.
