When “The Future of Work” Surprisingly Means Going Decades Back Into the Past
3 years ago, companies wouldn’t stop talking about “the future of work,”… and now, they’re all eager to return to the past.
I find all the discourse around “return to the office” extremely interesting. And when I say “interesting,” I actually mean, “WTF is happening now?”
Three years ago, companies adapted quickly to remote work. And, as they became more successful and profitable than ever before, they promoted the many benefits of WFH and hybrid environments, including a boost in productivity, better DEI results, better and more opportunities to hire talent, more connected teams, and sky-high records profits.
These large and cutting-edge companies also held “the future of work” conferences and events, penned articles about it, and even shared their success stories openly.
They all embraced remote and hybrid work environments as the future.
These organizations explained how technology was bringing us closer together, how remote offices would give us a chance to become more intentionally inclusive, and how we were leaping forward toward a more accessible and equitable workplace.
